Ronaldo targeting Raul's Real Madrid record
Feb 11, 2013 11:57:00 PM
The Portuguese has set his sights on becoming the club's greatest goalscorer of all-time
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his ambition to surpass Raul as los Blancos' all-time record goalscorer. The 28-year-old equalled Paco Gento's record of 182 goals with his hat-trick over Sevilla on Saturday, to become the club's sixth most prolific player.
However, the Portugal international has a significant job on his hands in order to emulate Raul's haul of 323 Real Madrid goals, not that he is at all fazed by the size of the task.
Speaking to AS, Ronaldo said: "I've always said that records are there to be beaten, I don't mean just by me but by the next generation of players who come along.
"I feel happy to have made history and I am delighted to have registered these figures. What I would like is to continue as I have until now and one day, be the first."
Ronaldo entered Madrid's list of top 10 greatest goalscorers this season and has steadily surpassed Amancio (155) Emilio Butragueno (171) and Pirri (172).
Speaking to Real Madrid.com, Butragueno reflected on Ronaldo's achievements and noted his importance to the club.
"We are all immensely proud that Cristiano Ronaldo is a Real Madrid player. I hope he remains here for many more years because he is such an important player for us," said Butragueno.

I
agree... and also what do you expect teams to do against a team like
Barca? they are playing against the best team ever assembled you have
to park the bus against them if you don't then you will surely lose... I
mean think about it.... Barca is made up of basically the best national
team Spain along with the best player Messi... so if you play against
the best team and best player you better do what you have to do in order
to win... its logic and its called smart tactics by a smart coach....
oh and on that note that is why Pep is not or ever will be the best
coach... anyone can coach that team and win... best national team
(Spain) and best player (Messi) even a child on this website that
comments on football like he actually knows something could direct them
to win some trophies...
so as King Xavi would say... "hate me for telling the truth" ;-)

Ronaldo
should forget about Messi, and just play his game for Madrid, then he
will surpass Raul, cause Messi frustrates him. Legends like Maldini,
Raul and Giggs all played for the shirt not for them selfs. Even Messi
playes for the team( with a bit of dictatorship lately).

Note,
all of the record holders have played in one club - Muller, Raul, Messi
and etc. Ronaldo played for 2 Greatest clubs ever, N1 Real Madrid, N2
Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo made 292 appearances for United between 2003 and 2009, scoring 118 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo scored 183 goals in just over a 3 season period. Until now, if you combine all of his goals, you will have 301 goals. Meaning he has scored more than Messi, and he will beat Rauls record in 28 goals. And that he scored them in the hardest EPL and the unfamiliar La Liga is already a stunning achievement.

Please
use a real, factual argument if you're going to claim it is a fact. In
the 2011-2012 season, there were 1066 Goals in the EPL and 1050 in La
Liga. The top two teams in the EPL scored 182 goals; in La Liga, the top
two scored 235. The difference between the top team and the bottom team
(goals scored) in EPL was 53; in La Liga, the difference was 93.
Since Ronaldo joined Real Madrid, Messi has scored 219 Goals in 203 Games, @ 1.08 goals/game. Ronaldo has scored 182 Goals in 179 Games, @ 1.02 goals/game.

cabron I'm a Spaniard and a Madridista so don't speak for me, so if
Rinaldo surpasses Raul, then good for him but I really don't care as
long as my team keeps on winning! Regardless if Ronaldo scores the most,
this won\t take away all that the legends like Di Stefano, Butragueno
or Raul have given to my club!; however one thing I will guarantee, is
that Ronaldo will join those list of legends for Real Madrid!! By the
way, Messi's record is for most goals in a year not all time goal scorer
for Barca because he still has to beat Paulino Alcantara who scored 369
goals in 357 matches, making him the club's highest goalscorer
(counting goals scored in both official games and friendlies). Now that

When
Ronaldo came to Real Madrid, he was already an established player.
Messi was raw when he started thus his unproductive years (in
comparison) during the earlier stages of his career.. Compare their
stats over the same period, since Ronaldo joined Real. Messi, 219
goals/203 games and Ronaldo 182 goals/179 games. In terms of average
goals/game over this period, Messi edges it. If you compare career
stats, Messi has 299 goals/364 games and Ronaldo has 305 goals/502
games. Now, if you check their average goals per games over their
careers, you will see a noticeable difference.
I don't want to have a Messi-Ronaldo argument, but when someone makes a false statement, I'm compelled to point it out.

want facts? oh and I am not even a Madrid fan... from a Man U fan so
trust me I won't like them this week either, but I will still respect
them...
1) Real Madrid is in top 3 of the money list. 2) Real Madrid is in top 3 most watched team across the world. 3) Real Madrid set several La Liga records last year... so they are nothing right? so with your logic that means Barca was nothing last year, right? (stupidity) Why don't you get over yourself and just enjoy the great game and respect the top clubs rather then trash talk them for no reason... people with class respect their opponents especially there rivals... so stop the childish comments of Madrid being nothing... because all true football fans know they are closer to everything than nothing...

Nice to hear from a supposedly "neutral person"...we might get what side you're on sooner or later.
King Xavi in plain black and white crystal clear English said..."Madrid is overrated" So what should we call a rich, most watched and hence most publiced club that has won no CL in 10 years? Madrid simply doesn't live up to it's rates....and that is the Fact. Wouldn't it be stupid to say Brazil is a no 1 team in the world yet it hasn't performed well in the last 10 years?

(numerical advantage) >Barca's 2009 CL win was the most tainted in history after Ovrebo's scandal of 4 denied Chelsea penalties. > Barca's 2011 CL win tainted after the free 2nd yellow to RVP to get barca numerical advantage > Barca's 2011 CL win tainted after the free red card to Pepe after not touching Alves to get barca numerical advantage > Barca's 2011 CL win tainted after the disallowed Higauin goal after Mascherano's dive after Piques foul on Ronaldo. Well
put... Arsenal was the better team that year in 2006 and Lehmann should
not have gotten red card should of been yellow.... was rubbish to give
red card and penalty. I remember Arsenal still came back and matched up
against them for most of the game with 10 men, but of course in the end
they were tired and ended up losing... you can only last so long with
10 men against a top team like Barca. Oh and of course Barca get help
because people want to see Messi so the refs did help them against
Chelsea, Barca played better football so they wanted them in final for
better ratings its all a business at that point.... Money talks! I will
admit they did deserve to win most of those CL but at least 1 should of
gone to Arsenal or Chelsea...
